I have to say that media play a very huge part in our life. Sometimes it is so important that it will shape our mind and thinking. Therefore, people who controls the media are given BIG responsibilities to shape the mind and thinking of our future generation.
I would like to comment on some advertisements shown on national TV recently.
The first one is about the re-sizing of a major Malay daily. The son answered Zaman Dah Berubah, Dunia Dah Moden when his mother invited him to eat the nasi lemak and kopi. He then showed the breakfast cereal and said Nak Jaga Badan. So it actually tell other people that nasi lemak and kopi are outdated and not good for health. Then, the father also said Zaman Dah Berubah, Dunia Dah Moden when the newspaper vendor throwed the newspaper into their house. Is he trying to tell other people that modern people are rude and okay to be rude?
The second one is about a detergent that can wash so clean and white until the kids who tried to steal rambutan can hide by just standing along the drying white cloth. What are we trying to instill to our kids? Is okay to steal and run away with it?
The third one is about the revolution of a TV station. Apparently the son of the sick father in the hospital is overly soft ( i think). He is looking fed-up with the father and file the nails when the mother is trying to talk to the sick and coma father. Then he also jump in a very softie manner. Well, what are we trying to tell the audience?
Hmm, maybe I am overly sensitive but I might say that the images will stay very long in the right brains of the viewers.

THINK OUT OF THE BOX
Can you believe it?
The phrase "Think Out Of The Box" is the most hated phrase and the most hated word is "Brainstorming" according to a poll by MSN.com. The poll was conducted among workers around America. Well, pity Alex Osborne, he invented Brainstorming to help the workers and now it is THE most hated word by them. Also pity John Adair who actually introduced the concept Think Out of The Box sometime in 1969.
Hmm, I do not know on what basis that they hated this word and phrase. Is it because the people who introduced this word and phrase didn't explain well enough about these jargons. Or maybe they just hated the word and the phrase because they have problem using it?
Well, have to do some brainstoming and hope that some out of the box ideas will help me. :)

Pesta Minda & Pusat Minda Besut
FANTASTIC! Have you ever thought that the world first of its kind; Mind Centre (Pusat Minda) will be located in Besut? Well definitely it sounds a bit far fetch and by the way where is Besut? and who will want a Mind Centre in Besut, some place that is about 120 km away from Kuala Terengganu and 55 km away from Kota Bharu.
But with Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh around, nothing is impossible because he will say I'm possible. :) Kudos to him. and of course his team of friends.
Pusat Minda Besut was officially launched 15th June 2008. I believe it is first of its kind in the world. With Pusat Minda Besut's opening, I believe it will change the landscape of Besut and mindscape of people in Besut. Besut has earned an entry into the world's atlas and soon many people in Besut will earn an entry into the world's who's who because of their mental prowess.
Hopefully Pusat Minda Besut will ignite for minds and create more bright minds for the benefit of Malaysia and the world.
Besut BEST!

Is like that one?
I must say that this is one of the favourite excuse given by Malaysians in the service industry.
Last week I brought my sis-in-law Satria Neo for regular servicing. I complained to the service personnel that the brake is making some squeaking sound when reversing and ask them to check for me. Do you know what was his response? "Is like that one!"
I was so surprised and shocked! How can you give me this response even without taking a look at it?
I kept quiet because I do not want to create chaos. Then I told him that the air-cond is not working right. The passenger's air-cond outlet was blocked. He says that he will check for me. After about 1 hour, I received I call from the service outlet that the car is ready. I was happy that it was faster than what I have expected. However, when I start the car and turn on the air-cond the air didn't come out from the driver's outlet. I ran to the office and told them about the situation and guess what is their response? IS LIKE THAT ONE! Isn't is classic? He say both the passenger's and the driver's air-cond outlet share the same air-cond hose, so it will be either one outlet that will have air blowing out. He said I told him the passenger's outlet is not working so they fixed it!!!!!! Just like what was told to him.!!!!!
Well, what can I say is like that one!
Few days later, I went to a watch shop to complain about my Water Resist watch that suppose to be able to stand 10 bar pressure. However, it was not working accordingly. Water enter the watch and suddenly the watch can't work. The shopowner changed the battery and he say he can't find anything wrong with the watch but told me not to wear it for swimming and be careful when I wash my hand!!!! I ask him isn't my watch suppose to be water resistant? It is clearly printed Water Resist 100m. Do you know what did he say? Oh sometimes only in writing. Is like that one!!!!!
Huh! Is like that one?????
The moral of the story, how do people can stand all this nonsense? Malaysians should change their mentality; cheap product or service doesn't equal bad or poor service. We shouldn't hide behind this phrase. How to achieve first class nation if everyone is behaving and thinking "Is like that one?"

Blame My Keyboard
Well, sorry for not posting anything for the last few months.
Thanks to Maria for suggesting to me that I should post something. :)
I have been going around meeting some interesting people. That is why I didn't work as engineer because I enjoy meeting and talking to people rather than scrutinising pipelines and chemical plants. Although I am quite a good engineer. ;) I think I saved around RM 300K for my company during my first month working as Technical Trainee during my industrial attachment. See I told you that I am quite a good engineer. :)
Well, enough bragging.
Recently, I went back to my hometown; Raub. I saw one of my neighbours. I think he is about 10 years younger than me. When I saw him, it reminds me about his childhood days where he tries to befriend with other kids his age around the neighbourhood. The other kids seem to "bully" him because he can't commnicate with them. What do you expect he is the only Indian boy in the group of 6-7 Chinese kids. But I noticed things change quite rapidly, from using his limbs and facial expressions to commnicate, he improved to smuttering some basic Cantonese, then about 6 months time he can speak perfect Cantonese! I think his Cantonese must be perfect because his recent girlfriend is Chinese. Well, most of his girlfriends were Chinese!
Things have changed. Now, the few Chinese boys do not "bully" him anymore. To make things interesting the Indian boy is now the de facto leader of the group because he can speak Cantonese, Bahasa Malaysia, English and Tamil better than anyone of them.
The moral of the story is our brain can learn any language.
See you next time. ;)

I quote Dilip by saying it is Tremendous Terengganu with its Terengganu Trailblazers.

Kumaresan, Minarwan Nawawi and Collin Madhavan. Dilip Mukerjea, Michael Choy, Kenji Wakabayashi, Dr Farrah Hani Imran, Bugs Tan, Julian Leceister, Dr J, Prof Zalina, Dr Tajul, Dr Oh Ei Sun, Dr Suriyakhatun, Ungku Azlan, Tengku Faizwa and myself spoke at the event. I think everyone put their heart and soul to make the event a success.
